March is known for basketball, daylight savings, National Peanut Butter Lovers Day, (a celebration I can get on board with!) St Patrick’s Day, green beer, and all that comes with the luck of the Irish. I love the idea of that lucky four-leaf clover, but when it comes to being a homeowner, I don’t want to leave anything to chance.
Having said that, it seems we all have had luck shining down on all of us over the last couple of years with the real estate market. There have been gains way above the yearly average, which means that as a homeowner, your investment has flourished at a much faster pace. In the midst of all that equity accruing, it’s easy to have forgotten one key facet, the protector of our homes - homeowner’s insurance.
What’s the big deal, you ask? Well – let’s say the worst of the worst happens and there is a natural disaster, or a fire and your home is a total loss – if you don’t have adequate coverage on your homeowner’s insurance policy, there is a very real possibility that with the vast equity gains and today’s building costs, you might not be able to rebuild your home.
Peace of mind is a phone call away. Call your homeowner’s insurance agent and do a well-check. Make sure you have adequate coverage. Your home is your largest investment. Over the last eight months, I have reached out to each and every one of my clients as a reminder to make sure they are covered in the event of a tragedy. If you need a hand or want to do an overall mortgage well-check, I can help. Search for the four-leaf clover but don’t leave your home to the luck of the Irish.
